Vintage workwear is one of the three classic vintage categories, next to vintage sportswear and vintage military. Since the industrial revolution, workwear has rised. Coveralls and overalls of very strong fabric were the clothes of many labourers and factory workers, to make sure they were protected against any kind of force. Famous styles are dungarees, overalls, coveralls or the French blue worker jacket, also called the Bleu de Travail. Many vintage workwear pieces form an inspiration for current fashion brands such as Carhartt WIP, as well as designer fashion
Over time, brands arose that specialised in workwear. such as Carhartt and Dickies. These brands created iconic vintage jackets, such as a vintage Carhartt Michigan coat, a vintage Carhartt Detroit jacket, a vintage Carhartt Santa Fe jacket, and a vintage Dickies Eisenhower jacket.
Next to jackets, these brands created vintage workwear pants, also called vintage carpenter pants. Examples are the vintage Carhartt double knee pant, or a vintage Carhartt single knee pant. The same goes for Dickies. You can also find vintage Dickies double knee pants, or vintage Dickies single knee pants.
